US TTB data shows taxed tobacco consumption in 1st 7 months of 2015 (versus 2014):
- Cigarettes increased 0.8% (from 150 to 151 billion sticks)
- Small Cigars decreased 5.3% (from 315 to 299 million)
- Large Cigars decreased 26.7% (from 3.97 to 2.91 billion)
- Snuff increased 2.0% (from 66.1 to 67.5 million pounds)
- Chewing Tobacco decreased 9.1% (from 12.5 to 11.5 million pounds)
- Pipe Tobacco decreased 4.3% (from 22 to 21 million pounds) (most is used for RYO)
- RYO Tobacco decreased 0.1% (from 1.9 to 1.9 million pounds)
Consumer analyst Vivian Azer attributes slight US cigarette increase to falling gasoline prices, while UC’s Anna Song absurdly hypothesizes (despite all evidence and common sense to the contrary) that e-cigs increase cigarette smoking, and insultingly compares those who think e-cigs aren’t harmful with those who think cigarettes aren’t harmful.

Former FDA Deputy Cmsnr Josh Sharfstein (who implemented and defended FDA’s unlawful 2009 e-cig ban, and falsely claimed e-cigs don’t help people quit smoking, were target marketed to youth, were addicting nonsmoking youth and were gateways to cigarettes, and falsely insinuated e-cigs are toxic and carcinogenic) promotes FDA’s proposed Deeming reg/ban (that would ban >99.9% of nicotine vapor products) by claiming the agency doesn’t have to implement disastrous federal regulations it imposes.

JAMA’s False “Gateway to Smoking” Allegations
JAMA publishes another fraudulent “gateway” study by DHHS funded Primack et al, this time claiming hookah and snus are gateways to cigarettes (because some teens and young adults tried hookah or snus before smoking their first cigarette) to confuse, scare and lobby for FDA’s deeming regulation (that would ban >99.9% of e-cigs and hookahs).

Note the National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) for PM2.5 is 35ug/m3
and the Air Quality Index classifies PM2.5 above 250ug/m3 is classified as “Severe”
